Our mission is to connect people to Jesus as we joyfully live and share the Gospel.

Vision

Good Shepherd aspired to move into the future as a united and joyful community in Christ, strengthened and inspired by God to have an increasing impact upon the Gretna community and beyond with the love of Jesus Christ.

 

Specifically, this impact for Christ in our community and world will grow as we develop, improve, and offer:

• Inspiring, relevant, and varied styles of worship that touch people with the grace of Christ, engaging them in understanding God’s Word and applying it to their lives, and motivating them to live for Christ.
• A variety of Christian growth and fellowship opportunities through which adults of all ages and situations in life might encounter the empowering love of their Savior, be nourished in Him, and find mutual support through one another.
• An excellent and expanding preschool which shall serve as a mission arm to plant the Gospel of God’s love of Jesus in the hearts and homes of many preschool children and their families in the area.
• Dynamic children’s and youth ministries that seek to assist parents in passing on the Christian faith in engaging and relevant ways so that children and youth might grow in their love for the Lord and serve Him in their world.
• Opportunities for God’s people of all ages to discover their God-given gifts and be encouraged to offering loving service to Christ either within or outside the church.
• Ongoing strategic planning, raising up and training leaders, and adding profession staff to help facilitate the members of our growing congregation in mission and ministry.
• Attractive and adequate facilities to support our mission.  In this regard, planning will take place in 2008 which will lay the groundwork for the immediate expansion of our Gretna campus to meet the pressing needs for ministry growth at this location.
• A long-range plan for mission growth by which we will plant a 2nd church in the area by the year 2020.
